happy first birthday penny!

I met Penny and her lovely family last year for her newborn shoot and have had the pleasure of photographing them a couple of times since then. I literally couldn't have hoped for a better 1st birthday cake smash session! Penny LOVED the camera almost as much as she loved the cupcake we got for her. You know I'm really really happy with a session when it takes me two days to have the entire thing edited, blogged & ready to go! Here's to productive coffee filled Mondays.

Happy 1st birthday Miss Penny! It has been such a pleasure watching you grow this year.

Here we have three beautiful families that got together for some photos at Gulf Beach in Milford, CT! When I packed up and headed out for the shoot, the sky was perfectly overcast. I couldn't wait to get to the beach and be able to shoot anywhere and not have to worry about squinty eyes or shadows. Well, when I finally arrived the sun was shinning super bright and I was panicking! Especially since it was such a large group. I wasn't 100% sure of how the shoot went afterwards but I knew I did my best. When I got home to sort through the photos I was like alright..I think this could work. I finally finished up sorting and editing today and I'm really happy with the outcome.


& the moral of the story is- step out of your comfort zone. chances are, something good might come out of it.

babysitting jonathan!

A few weeks ago Julian's sister asked me if I would watch Jonathan while they went to a wedding. Of course I said yes! They were staying at a rental house in Old Saybrook, CT. When Allyson told me that the house was really artsy looking, I knew I had to bring my camera! It turned out to be the perfect summer night for scooter riding and ice pops in the driveway. Jonathan was such a good boy - but he doesn't like to hear the word "no." But really, who does?! Anyways - when I told him he couldn't play with the tools in his dad's truck, I got "UNCLE JILL, I DON'T LIKE YOU!!!" ;) He still loves me, though. I swear.
